Nottingham Forest Manager Nuno Espirito Santo said he was waiting for Taiwan Awoniyi to be allowed to have more visitors in the hospital and knew the 27-year-old was “good” after two abdominal surgeries during the inducing coma.
Santo believes Awoniyi was seriously injured when she collided at Forest at Leicester City on Sunday with a score of 2-2 at Forest, but Nigeria International would wake up from a coma in the final week of the Premier League season and could “surround” the team.
“I will visit as soon as possible,” Santo said, adding that Awoniyi must be observed for at least five days.
“He has the good guys in hand, his family is there, and that’s what he really needs. The players are chatting all the time. We know he’s good – he just needs time.”

Taiwan Awoniyi injured: Forest striker “Wonderful Boy”
Former Liverpool and United Berlin striker Awoniyi was admitted Monday night and fell into a coma on Tuesday and woke up on Wednesday.
“I hope he’ll join us next week and be with him because he’s a great boy,” Santo said. “This season has been so tough for him, so we feel bad for him.
“The surgery is going well, thank God, so he is watching now. He is recovering. We still have to wait for the doctor to allow the visit. His family is there. We are worried, but we are positive.
“If I had to change something, it’s – if we know the severity of the injury, call an ambulance to the hospital right away. But none of us know.”

Santo: Referees have “instructions to follow”
