Aron Dahlqvist is a huge and physical left-ball defender who spends most of his time on Swedish juniors and performs well in professional players. He doesn’t have a lot of numbers, but shows that he can be a solid defensive area. He likes to throw his body away, and he has an IQ to break down the game. He may come down to the board of directors at the 2025 NHL Draft.

Dahlqvist’s total views are not exciting. He ranks 14Th Among the under-18 J20 Nationell defenseman, there were 2 goals and 10 assists. But by then, several players had put forward similar numbers and formulated NHL careers over the years. For example, Mattias Ekholm scored 12 points in 37 games in the 2007-08 first draft qualifying season (he was not selected, however, but was later selected as the Occupy).
What makes Dahlqvist stand out is that BrynäsF visited him for 16 games in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). This comes with a major asterisk, as he has never played more than two ice time, but he is still there.
Dahlqvist casts the defensive defender. He is not good at preventing entries, but he shows a promising quality of transition. In these cases, he effectively moved the puck to the ice, and was not afraid to exude prosperity. This is a feature he showed in his area, and he did a great job without overdoing it. Dahlqvist didn’t shoot, which would put his team in a difficult situation, which was very calculated.
Speaking of Darkwester’s defense, he’s smart in that. He has solid gap control, which allows him to play a role in hockey while not committing to a player. He also prevents high-risk traffic lanes from opening, which is the result of his defensive IQ and strong sticks. Dahlqvist’s defensive zone game is where he works best. If he is locked on the player, they may be shut down.
Although sometimes, body defenders can sometimes be poor skateboarders, Darkwester’s mobility is one of his strengths. He is no exception in this regard, but it is an important weapon in his arsenal.
In the near future, Darkwester will have to show that he can fight against men. He is very effective for his age group, but SHL is a welcome test for him. Although it’s a demanding and fast-paced league, his traits in this environment can also be done well. Offense will be an area of improvement as he is indistinguishable from junior defensive teammates.
