Springfield, Massachusetts … American Hockey League announced today Texas star forward Cameron Hughes has been selected as Howies Hockey Video/AHL Player of the Week Period ending January 12, 2025.
Hughes had four goals and four assists for eight points last week, helping the Stars sweep three games on their Midwest road trip.
Hughes had an assist in Texas' 4-1 win over Rockford on Wednesday night. On Friday, he scored his third career AHL hat trick, helping the Stars defeat the Milwaukee Bucks 5-2. Back in Rockford on Saturday, Hughes scored one goal and assisted on three others, tying a career-high with four points as the Stars beat the IceHogs 6-1 for their eighth straight road win.
Hughes played 32 games for Texas this season, scoring 15 goals and 16 assists for 31 points, and tied for the league lead with five game-winning goals. The seventh-year pro from Edmonton, Alta., has played 356 AHL games in Texas, Coachella Valley and Providence, scoring a total of 97 goals. and 160 assists for 257 points and was selected as an Atlantic Division AHL All-Star following the 2020 Atlantic Division AHL All-Star Game. In the playoffs, Hughes contributed 4 goals and 35 assists for 39 points in 48 games and reached the Calder Cup finals with the Firebirds in 2023 and 2024.
Hughes, originally a sixth-round selection by Boston in the 2015 NHL Draft, has played two games in the NHL, both with the Bruins. He joined the Dallas Stars as a free agent on July 1, 2024.
