Star Trade Mason Parade to Kraken Draft Draft Picks – Hockey Writer – NHL News

After a four-year, $18 million extension at Matt Duchene, the Dallas Star had to lower some salary. Mobile’s $4.5 million striker Mason Parade contract is a quick way to get some breathing space. Seattle Kraken is happy to be obliged to give up his 2025 fourth-round pick and 2026 third-round pick to make the deal.

The Parade is a large mid-6 winger who averaged 51 points per 82 games in less than 15 minutes of ice time. He can also lay his body at 6-foot-5 and 212 pounds. The only downside here is his playoff work, which is almost half of his regular scoring rate (26 points per 82 games).

Despite this, Claken is still bargaining. It’s an above-average middleman who spends Seattle’s irrelevant draft capital. He may not move the pins a ton, but he brings them closer to the second time in franchise history to return to the playoffs.

As for the stars, they are just content to spend money. The parade was a big player for them, but in the final round between him and Ducheni, he scored 82 points last season, who won. Dallas has not lost its talent. Bringing back space back to Jamie Benn, Mikael Granlund, Evgenii Dadonov, Mavrik Bourque and others for less than $5 million, there is still much work to do. Meanwhile, getting two transit draft picks isn’t a terrible drag for those who take over as unrestricted free agents.
