Sunderland’s summer transfer window has been in volatile state so far, with Jobe Bellingham and Tommy Watson abandoning the Black Cats after the ecstasy of promotion.
Regis Le Bris and Co is not all doom and melancholy, but because Enzo le Fee writes at least on permanent wear and tear treatment to strengthen the midfield area.
Still, the Frenchman will hope that more and more new signings will enter the Stadium of Light, which is unlikely to survive in the Premier League.
The former Lorient boss will certainly prioritize some defensive additions to help his team stand out in quality, and there is now a new, imposed goal now on their agenda.
Sunderland is interested in the former Leeds Colossus
According to French Export Jeunes Footeux, Sunderland is interested in taking former Leeds united centre-back Charlie Cresswell this summer, after his impressive game against Toulouse at Ligue 1.
Le Bris is said to want young, solid players who have already seasoned at the highest level, and Cresswell will surely outline those boxes as he also goes on high-end photos of Elland Road during his brief residency in the Premier League.
Japhet Tanganga is also big on the Black Cats’ radar as they want to add some new defensive corpses here and there, and Millwall Brute may get some advantage when you take a look at his £1.2m valuation.
But if Sunderland is willing to pay millions of dollars for a price other than the Tanganga price tag, they can win an upgrade to the former Tottenham Hotspur youth product from Cresswell, the 22-year-old has no doubt that they have challenged England on BIT to return to England to prove themselves further.
Why will Cresswell be an upgrade for Tanganga
Cresswell settled in France’s top division, which means he can bring the game back to the UK at any time with the newly promoted Black Cats.
For Toulouse’s season, Cresswell brought four strikes to his 6-foot-3-foot-3 frame’s effective use, while also getting rid of his 31 appearances in Ligue 1 and getting nine clean sheets.
Tanganga did get 14 clean sheets in the championship game, but he played nine more games in the defensive core than the Carles Martínez Novell’s men in the game, while away from the 22-year-old’s total.
Anyway, Cresswell has actually shown his strengths, a central defender option for Den himself to stand out in Tanganga’s outstanding sport, and the table below further supports why he might be worthy of extra cash on the £8m course, while Transfermarkt is on the £8m course.

Indeed, the table proved that Creswell could fight his spells in England, and his spells in the Leeds Advanced Combination won an average of ridiculous 7.6 duels in his 22/23 event in southeast London. Instead, adding context, Tanganga won only 5.8 titles last season.
Additionally, now there is a full Ligue 1 season where he collects nine clean sheets—more than his former Spurs’ beds managed by the elite division North North—Sunderland can now focus all on trying to win the attention of Preston-born youngsters rather than winning a challenge from Don Gaga.
Currently out with the U21S Euro in the UK, he rubs shoulders with the likes of Premier League regular Harvey Elliott and “Outstanding” star Elliot as he has been putting a glowing label on Leeds content creator Joe Wainman in the past – and will believe that time is right for him next.
Sunderland hopes he will be a key part of the puzzle of ensuring survival.
