Sunderland’s target mobile ‘quality’ upgrade £6m

Fabrizio Romano recently reported that Sunderland and OGC Nice had a conversation this summer about signing Polish goalkeeper Marcin Bulka.

The Black Cats are interested in former Paris Saint-Germain’s shooter shotfoot to strengthen Regis Lebris’s roster as he will play in Anthony Patterson.

Premier League teams also need to strengthen their defense in front of him if they can sign the Ligue 1 star, but Chris Mepham is unlikely to be a part of it.

Reporter Graeme Bailey reported earlier this month that the possibility of returning to the championship is more likely than a permanent return to the championship in the Light.

Given Bailey’s report, a trade for the Bournemouth Central defender seems unlikely, but the Black Cats reportedly focus on another central defender choice.

According to an echo of Sunderland, Sunderland is following Lyon defender Duje Caleta truck, a potential signing to strengthen their squad before the summer transfer window ends.

The report said that despite reports of football transfers, Croatia International is worth £6 million.

It added that after the financial audit, Lyon has been downgraded to Ligue 2, which could provide further encouragement for Black Cats to pursue Caleta-Car, but they will appeal the decision.

Why Sunderland Should Sign Duje Caleta-Car

The newly promoted party should reach an agreement to sign the Croatian giant this summer as he can serve as an upgrade to Mepham, who loaned the 2024/25 campaign at Stadium of Light.

Sunderland will need strong defenders to protect his goals, potentially being guarded by Bulka when fighting relegation next season, while Lyon Titan’s performance in Ligue 1 shows that he will provide the team with more than Wales International.

Caleta-Car’s former boss Ralph Hasenhuttl claimed he had “a lot of influence” on the court, and he has also recently attracted the attention of his country, winning seven of his nine duels and winning eight permissions in a 7-0 victory over Gibraltar and defeating Czechia with a 5-1 victory.

As you can see in the table above, the Croatian star has performed better in Ligue 1 this season than Mepham produced last season in the Premier League.

These statistics suggest that Caleta-Car will be more dominant in defense, especially in air combat, while also making more interventions, tackles, interceptions, clearances and blocks, which can prevent attackers from disturbing targets in every game.

Lyon’s defender will also come with Premier League experience. He started nine games for Southampton in the 2022/23 campaign, winning 57% of his games, with 2.3 tackles and interceptions per game.

Caleta -Car – Transfer Insider Dean Jones is praised for having “main quality” – not enough to contribute significantly to their season and they were relegated from the top flight of the semester.

However, since returning to France, his Lyon table shows that he does have the qualities that excel in the European League, especially compared to Mappme.

So Sunderland should, as it upgrades to Bulka this summer to improve its defensive options, signing Croatia International International will be reached in the event of any need to bring Mepham back to a permanent transfer.
