Sweden announced that the top six players joined its initial squad at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The rest of the roster will be announced later this year.

The men’s championship for 12 teams will be held from February 11 to 22. The team will be divided into three groups. Group A has Canadian, Czech, Swiss and French characteristics. Group B includes Finland, Sweden, Slovakia and Italy. Group C includes the United States, Germany, Latvia and Denmark.
This is the top six players in Sweden’s initial roster.
William Nylander
The 29-year-old was born in Calgary and is the son of former NHL forward Michael Nylander, a Stockholm native. Since ranking 8th in the 2014 NHL Draft, he has scored 612 points (262 goals, 350 assists) in 685 games. He is an All-Star with a career-high 98 points (40 goals, 58 assists) in 2023-24. He has played in the World Championship four times, including Sweden’s 14 points (7 goals, seven assists) in 10 games he won in 2017.
Victor Hedman
The 34-year-old from Ornskoldsvik and Tampa Bay Lightning Captain has scored 794 points (171 goals, 623 assists) in 1,131 games since finishing second in the 2009 NHL draft. He is a six-time finalist for the Norris Trophy, and he won the league’s best defensive player in 2018. He was a three-time All-Star (2017, 2020, 2022), scored 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) in 25 games, won the Conn Smythe trophy, becoming the MVP of the 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs, helping the Lightning win its first back-to-back title. In the 2016 World Hockey Tournament, he scored a goal in four matches in Sweden and represented the country in four world championships.
Adrian Kempe
Kempe, a 28-year-old from Kramfors, scored 401 points (194 goals, 207 assists) in 630 games in nine seasons with the Los Angeles Kings and became an All-Star in 2022. He played in the world championship four times in 10 matches won by Sweden in 2018, including 8 points (2 goals, six goals).
Rasmus Dahlin
Since ranking No. 1 in the 2018 NHL Draft, the 25-year-old and the Buffalo Sabres captain have scored 360 points (83 goals, 277 assists) in 509 games. Dahlin is a three-time All-Star (2022, 2023, 2024), a Lidkoping native who scored two assists at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics and competed in the IIHF World Championships in 2022 and 2024.
Gabriel Landeskog
The 32-year-old is the captain of the Colorado Avalanche, with 571 points (248 goals, 323 assists) in 738 games. He scored 22 points (11 goals and 11 assists) in 2022’s 20 playoff games, which made a contribution to the Avalanche’s Stanley Cup. A knee injury forced him to miss nearly three years of play before returning in Game 3 against the Dallas Stars in the first round of the Western Conference on April 23, ending the playoffs with four points (one goal, three assists) in five games. He is a Stockholm native, earning an assist in six games at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and a goal in four games in the 2016 World Cup hockey game.
Lucas Raymond
The 23-year-old from Gothenburg scored 254 points (98 goals, 156 assists) in 320 games in the first four seasons, and the Detroit Red Wings have scored 254 points since being selected as fourth in the 2020 NHL Draft. Raymond scored an NHL career-high 80 points (27 goals, 53 assists) this season, and he has represented Sweden in his last three world championship games, with 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists) in 10 games this year.
Milano Cortina 2026 marks an important milestone in the history of hockey. NHL players will participate in the Olympic Winter Olympics for the first time.
