Taylormade Drops Limited Edition MG Original Wedge

Surprisingly, Taylormade is taking the MG Proto Wedge, which was previously tour-only, (released at the memorial last month) and is released to the public in a limited number.

The company announced two grated new wedge versions on its website and confirmed some details about the prototype, which was added to the bags of five players during the first week of the tour.

MG Proto is the first completely forged wedge released by the company under the milling mill, which is about to end.

With limited drops, The Wedge is available for two new grindings at Taylormade: SX and SC Grinds.

The SX is immediately covered in the 60-degree Lob wedge of Tommy Fleetwood. It is the only product in the MG range with the only increase in curvature that helps the club glide on the turf, regardless of conditions. At the rear of the sole, it has a Taylormade’s “reverse C” rear edge designed to provide a consistent trailing edge relief regardless of the wedge position. It also has more offsets to help players feel the target is more square.

SC Grind was played by Ben Griffin in the Memorial, when he was second to Scottie Scheffler. It has a more tilted sole grinding that enhances the versatility of players who like to play a wide variety of shots.

In addition to the original finish, the two wedges feature laser-etched spin-tread technology that helps keep spinning in rough and wet conditions.

The current MG4 wedge was released in summer 2023 and families usually have a two-year product cycle. But as of now, Taylormade has not confirmed whether the MG Proto will eventually become the next-generation MG5.

Taylormade MG Proto Wedges is only available today on Taylormadegolf.com. Every wedge is $199 And comes with dynamic gold wedge 115g shaft and golf Pride Z plus 2 grips, but can be customized. Both grinders have 58 degrees and 60 degrees lofts.
