The highest-paid Serie A player (2025)

In the 1990s, Serie A was arguably the best alliance on Earth. The European Cup/Champions League was won three times by Italian teams, while a group of global superstars moved to Italy.

This hasn’t been the case since then, but can things change? The revival of Inter and Milan in recent years, coupled with the emergence of Naples and Atlanta, as the team that has won silverware recently showed that Italy’s top flights are in a solid position.

Marcus Thuram (Inter)

£122,000 per week

Despite Premier League interest, Marcus Thuram transfers for free in the summer of 2023.

The Frenchman scored 16 goals for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the 2022/23 season and continued this form in Milan.

Since arriving at the club, he has won 31 goals in 83 games and scored 12 assists. Thuram helped the club win the 2023/24 Serie A championship.

The 27-year-old’s son is former French international idol Lilian Thuram, who earns £122,000 a week at Inter.

Romelu Lukaku (Napoli)

£122,000 per week

Romelu Lukaku’s nomadic career took him to another club last summer, winning a deal for Naples throughout the 2024/25 campaign.

The 31-year-old led Naples to a charge of winning the second league title in three seasons, scoring 10 Serie A goals while writing.

The Belgian host currently earns £122,000 a week, but he will be his fourth league title if he can lead Antonio Conte’s side to May.

Douglas Luis (Juventus)

£133,000 per week

It is fair to say that Douglas Luiz hasn’t enjoyed a productive spell at Juventus as many would have expected. Last semester was a fantastic season for Aston Villa, helping the club rank fourth in the Premier League, leading Juventus to sign him for £42.35 million.

Since then, the Brazilian has only played 22 times for the club and has only entered the starting XI six times. He makes £133,000 a week.

PiotrZieliński (Inter)

£133,000 per week

In Naples, Piotr Zieliński is arguably one of their main players as they won the Serie A title on 2022/23, missing only one lonely match in the process.

His performance in Naples led to the transfer to the International Front last summer, and he is currently glittering at the club, adding some solidity in the midfield.

He may be entering the final years of his career, but Zielinski is as always. In Inter Milan, he earns £133,000 a week.

Gleason Bremer (Juventus)

£147,000 per week

Currently, Juventus has the second best defensive record in Serie A, with only 25 goals in 28 games. Defender Gleison Bremer is a big reason for doing so.

The Brazilian may earn £147,000 a week at the Old Lady, but considering that he won 63% of his defensive duels in the top game and only 0.2 times per game, he is well worth mentioning as the club has won the first league title since 2020.

Alessandro Bastoni (Inter)

£162,000 per week

Alessandro Bastoni has been a key member of Simone Inzaghi’s roster this season, proving his worth in both defensive and offensive senses.

Looking ahead, he recorded four assists in the league this season and scored six big opportunities in 58% of dribbling.

At the core of the defense, Bastoni won 61% of his duel with 1.3 tackles per game. The Italian earns £162,000 a week.

Hakan Calhanoglu (Inter)

£177,000 per week

Hakan Calhanoglu may be known for his ability to free kicks, but the Turkish international is an excellent midfielder who can play many roles.

Since joining Inter, he has registered 63 goals to contribute in 166 games – 36 goals and 27 assists, winning six major trophys in the process.

Of course, he deserves a salary of £177,000 a week at the club.

Nicolo Barella (International)

£192,000 per week

Nicola Barella is probably just the most stable player on the international front, missing only 19 league games in his first season with the club, winning two Serie A titles in the process.

Barella earns £192,000 a week and is one of the highest-paid players in Italy’s top flights, but if he can lead the club to another domestic crown, the huge salary will prove worth it.

Paulo Dybala’s £206,000 per week is third on this list. His spell in Rome restored a career, which gave so many careers but failed to deliver on during Juventus.

Since joining in 2022, the capital side has contributed more than considerable statistics and he will seek to maintain this excellent form until the end of the current campaign.

Lautaro Martinez (Inter)

£265,000 per week

Lautaro Martinez is arguably one of the best signings in the international club’s recent history. Since joining in 2018, the Argentinian has found the back of the net in 146 matches.

Martinez’s goal earned £265,000 a week, shot the club to two league champions in his spell in Italy, and they also reached the Champions League final in 2023 – this time they can repeat it.

£310,000 per week

Dušan Vlahović is the highest-paid player in Serie A, bringing home a staggering £310,000 a week – but is this huge salary justified?

The midfielder is undoubtedly very talented, but returning 55 goals in 135 Juventus games is not as prolific as his salary.

The Serbs have scored just nine league goals in 22 games with Thiago Motta this season, which should be higher given his ability.
