Leeds must sell £4m for stars, which could have been their next Archie Grey

Leeds United is a club that has produced numerous college stars over the years, many of whom became key members of Elland Road’s first team.

Kalvin Phillips broke into Yorkshire’s senior team in 2016 and made himself a regular on the team after a few minutes of setting up on the bench.

He will join Manchester City with a £45 million contract in the summer of 2022, registering a total of 234 appearances for whites, which makes the hierarchy a huge profit.

Jack Clarke is another player who stands out, and his direct dribbling ability swept the championship in the final third.

Like Phillips, he will leave with a big move to join Tottenham Hotspur for a £10m fee, another player follows the attacker’s footsteps and moves to north London in the past few years.

Young Archie Gray rose rapidly in his childhood in 2023/24 season and broke into the first team in his ninth year.

The 18-year-old made himself a regular at Daniel Farke last season, and despite his teenage season, there were an astonishing 52 times in all competitions.

However, he would watch home and take on various roles such as central midfielder and right back, but both starred in, thus earning the EFL Young Champion Award.

After such a huge performance in the second-tier match, Premier League Tottenham Hotspurs will knock on the door, and the white man had no choice but to download him for £40 million after failing to get promotion last season.

Such a high fee greatly helped the club’s financial situation, but they might have sold a player too early and missed another Mammoth’s sum that has developed him instead of cashing in the summer.

As mentioned earlier, the club is lucky to develop multiple talents through rankings, but not everyone stands out in the Elland Road hype.

He is an example of centre-back Charlie Cresswell, who seems to be able to be a key member of Yorkshire’s first team after the 2020/21 first-team breakout.

A few years ago, after such an impressive loan, Cresswell didn’t have more opportunities to show off his talent on Elland Road, which moved him to Europe.

But given his departure from Yorkshire forms, the hierarchy may regret their decision to allow him to leave and potentially grow into the next academy star at a huge cost – but if that happens, Toulouse will now be the beneficiary of taking advantage of his lack of action.

His skills and talents so far in 2024/25 prove that he could have been the perfect choice for the current side, but their losses are now the harvest of Ligue 1 – Cresswell is able to kick and make the most of the opportunity to develop his own way into a top star.
