Xabi Alonso says “now is not the time now” to discuss the future, Real Madrid Eyes Bayer Leverkusen boss

Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso chose to steer away from speculation about a potential shift to Real Madrid, insisting that the focus must be kept in the final section of the season.

The 43-year-old Spaniard is reportedly considered one of the replacements if Carlo Ancelotti leaves Bernabeu this summer.

Alonso’s impressive tenure at Leverkusen, which included mentoring them to an unbeaten Bundesliga title and winning the German Cup in his first full season, making him a hot management prospect throughout Europe.

Despite the growing rumors, Alonso was still busy when he was asked about his future at the latest press conference.

“This is not a good time to discuss the future. We are at a very important moment this season.

“I don’t want to talk about speculation and rumors. [I understand] This is happening, but what is more important to me is what is happening right now. ”

Currently, Leverkusen Trail Bayern Munich has only five games left in the Bundesliga, with five remaining, leaving no room for interference as they push another strong finish and back-to-back title.

Fernando Carro, the club’s CEO, also praised the rumors about Madrid’s move, adding that Alonso felt “comfortable” at the club and was already involved in the plans for next season.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp, another manager associated with Real Madrid, seems unlikely to return off the field anytime soon. “Jurgen is very pleased with his new role as Red Bull’s global football leader,” his agent Marc Kosicke told Sky Germany on Friday.

As for Alonso, this is not the first time he has made connections with top clubs. Last year, he had links with management vacancies in Real Madrid, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

Alonso is a decorative player, and between 2009 and 2014, Real Madrid won six years of outstanding matches, winning La Liga and the Champions League.

He ended his game days in 2017 at Bayern Munich before transitioning to coaching.
