Unfortunately for golf fans, Tiger Woods won’t play at next week’s 2025 PGA Championship. But the 15-time major champion has been underperforming this week, not on the PGA Tour, but at the White House in Washington, D.C., which is what we know.
Tiger is suitable for the White House
On Friday night, May 8, U.S. Senator Jim Banks broke the news on X. Banks. The senator wrote with the photo: “Meet @tigerwoods in the White House today! ⛳️🇺🇸”
Woods decorates it in the photo’s navy uniform, light blue shirt and dark blue tie.
It’s not known why Woods was on the Pennsylvania Avenue or whether he met with Donald Trump while he was at the White House. Woods did not mention the trip on his own social media channels.
But Woods did go to the White House earlier this year, and the agenda for this visit was important.
Woods, PGA Tour Reps meets Trump, PIF Governor
On February 20, Woods met with Trump and Saudi PIF Governor Yasir al-Rumayyan at the White House with Adam Scott and PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan. The organization attempts to negotiate further between the Tour and PIF, which runs Liv Golf.
At first, the response to the meeting was positive. After the meeting, Woods, Scott and Monaghan issued a joint statement thanking everyone involved:

“We just held a constructive work with President Trump at the White House, and he is Yasir al-Rumayyan.
Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, we launched a discussion on golf unification. We are committed to moving as soon as possible and will share additional details where appropriate.
We are passionate about the game and the importance of unity. Most importantly, we all want the best players in the world to play together more often and are committed to doing everything we can to bring this result to our fans. ”
But Monaghan was barely worried about negotiations stagnation following the White House meeting during the Players Championship in March.
“We are doing everything we can to bring the two sides together, and that’s how we are not doing this in a way that lowers the strength of the platform or the real motivation we have with our fans and partners,” Monahan said at his Player Championship news conference.
Tiger and Vanessa Trump
Another recent development that might have inspired Woods to the White House on Friday was related to his personal life.
On the evening of March 22, Tiger confirmed his new relationship with his girlfriend Vanessa Trump, writing: “Love is by my side, and living by you is better! We look forward to our journey of living together. At this point, we will thank everyone close to our hearts for the privacy of the people.”
Vanessa Trump is the ex-wife of President Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr. She is also the mother of President’s granddaughter Kai Trump, a burgeoning golf social media star.

Tiger Woods and 2025 PGA Champion
After undergoing surgery last September, Woods hopes to return to the game this year on a handful of major events.
He was scheduled to debut at the Genesis Invitational in February, but Woods retreated after his mother Tida’s death.

Woods did participate in the founding season of the new indoor golf league TGL he helped find.
Then on March 11, Tiger fans received more bad news. Woods announced that he had ruptured the Achilles tendon. He underwent a surgical repair procedure and said at the time: “I am back home now and plan to focus on rehabilitation and rehabilitation. Thank you for all your support.”
Although April Fools’ Day jokes suggest other situations, Woods missed the Master of 2025 due to recovery. He will also miss the 2025 PGA title next week at Quail Hollow.
