The start of any golf year is always fascinating, seeing what players have in their bags and some star players switching brands.
Recently, we've seen Tommy Fleetwood and Bryson DeChambeau add mini drivers to their bags, and now Titleist is adding the GT280 to their tour In the series of golf clubs.
As it stands, there aren't too many details as it's only available on tour, but you can safely assume it will be available in the coming months.
The reason some players prefer the mini driver over the 3-wood driver is that the mini driver has a larger head profile and offers more launch and spin variation than the 460cc driver – 280 Undoubtedly referring to the 280cc head shape.
Titleist GT drivers and fairways will be released in June 2024, with drivers in GT2, GT3 and GT4 and fairways in GT2 and GT3.
Last year, Titleist produced a prototype TSR 2-wood that Cameron Young had in his bag ahead of The Players Championship, and the GT280 offered a deeper profile along with a white scoring line on the face.
Beyond that, it has the signature sleek and clean look of any Titleist metal wood.
As a company, Titleist has always worked with the best golfers in its development process, and they worked with Young and Will Zalatoris to develop a 13° head that performs equally well on the tee or on the deck.
And, as we can see here, there's the usual Titleist SureFit hosel system, which means the 13° club can be adjusted to 16 different settings, with lofts as high as 14.5° and as low as 12.25°.
