Last summer, the Spurs struck a £30m deal for Gray, with defender Joe Rodon leading the way in another deal, but helping to lower overall costs.

It has been a great business for Chairman Daniel Levy since then, and Gray has taken on much more responsibilities than originally expected. However, the 19-year-old performed well, and Ang Poscoglu even took advantage of him at the centre-back during the peak of Tottenham’s crisis.

The teenager proved unreliable, featured in right-back and midfield, and all signs suggest Grey had a poor career at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He is in such a good state that the Spurs are following his younger brother on Leeds Harry Gray.

Tottenham is said to be monitoring Gray ahead of a potential summer battle and can repeat the deal, allowing his older siblings to move to North London.

Goodman heard that Gray is a “very special” talent that can even surpass his brother on the potential Spurs.

“Personally, I don’t think the Spurs are alone when scouting Harry Gray’s high-end clubs,” Goodman told Football League World.

“The report from Elland Road is shocking because it could be a very special talent, even more important than his brother Archie, which would be an incredible feat.

“For now, though, it’s about playing football, a week and learning your deal. I think if the Spurs did sign him, you would imagine that there’s a chance they’re lending Leeds or a team that he’s going to play out a regular first-tier football.

“In those days you needed slow, considered an introduction to football, but you didn’t overwork, but you got a lot of opportunities in the first team. For me, it was the best thing for him.”

It seems only a matter of time before it hasn’t appeared for the first team.
