Trent Alexander-Arnold confirms he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season

Trent Alexander-Arnold confirmed that he will leave Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old is expected to join Real Madrid after choosing to end a decade-long spell with his hometown club.

“I think first of all, I want to say it’s not an easy decision and there’s a lot of thought and feeling that’s in. I’ve been there for 20 years, fell in love with every minute, achieved all my dreams, achieved everything I wanted to be here.”

“I have to give everything every day, stay for 20 years every day, and now I feel like I need a new change, a new challenge for me as a player and a person. I think now is the right time for me to do that.”

One of the best right-backs in the world

Alexander-Arnold joined the club at the age of six, making 352 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 23 goals and establishing himself as one of the best right-backs in world football.

He helped the Reds win eight major trophies, including two Premier League titles and the 2019 Champions League.

His refusal to sign a new deal, however, led to strong opposition from supporters, especially Mohamed Salah and Captain Virgil Van Dijk made different decisions at Anfield and made new contracts for the new contract.

Trent’s message to fans

When asked about speaking to supporters on the official club channel, he said: “I want to say a lot. The main thing is that it’s very thankful. You’ve been here with me since the beginning, you’ve supported me, been there.

“I feel the support of everything you do, love, everything I do, I haven’t noticed it and I love it every minute. I hope they feel it has paid off and I have given everything I can to the club.

Alexander-Arnold’s next move is likely to be to Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid is a long-time admirer.

Rights back is also the place they are fighting against since Dani Carvajal tore the ACL in October, ruled out the rest of the season.

Lucas Vazquez, who usually operates on the right, fills it together with key midfielder Fede Valverde.

The snap-up of Alexander-Arnold also expanded Madrid’s policy of signing the best contract player on the mainland after acquiring Kylian Mbappe last summer.
