Oakmont Country Club will host its 10th Open when it hosts its 125th Golf Test at the 10th U.S. Open in June.
To celebrate the championship, USGA announced Wednesday that it is investing $1 million in public golf courses and communities in the area, in partnership with Oakmont and Western Pennsylvania Golf Association. The investment will also provide learning opportunities for those interested in a career in golf.
“The key to sustaining gaming growth depends on a thriving public golf ecosystem, which is why USGA has been promoting for more than 100 years,” USGA CEO Mike Whan said in a statement. “Public courses are the entrance to providing affordable players’ golf in the United States. As games continue to grow, we need to make sure these community gems have the tools they need to succeed to succeed – and that starts with us.”
The North and South Park courses in Allegheny County will receive funding to help increase participation in courses and help achieve sustainability goals. The Bob O’Connor golf course in Schenley Park, Pittsburgh will also receive funding. Vegetables are available for all three courses under $20.

USGA’s Pathway Internship will give 24 colleges or graduate students the opportunity to join golf and business leaders during Championship Week, allowing them to view several different career opportunities in golf competitions.
Regional and local parks in Oakmont and Plum will benefit from USGA’s Community Return Program, which supports outdoor recreation and adds green spaces.
“The benefit of hosting the national championship is that we want to articulate it all,” Oakmont Country Club president John Lynch said in a statement. “This year, we will show the golf community the full content of the Champions City and make sure golf is part of its sports heritage.”
The 2025 U.S. Open will be held from June 12 to 15.
