Vegas Golden Knights sign Reilly Smith to 1 year, delaying $2 million – Hockey Writer – Las Vegas Golden Knights
The Vegas Golden Knights have signed Reilly Smith as a one-year contract worth $2 million. According to NHL insider Chris Johnson, the deal includes a no-trade clause.

The experienced left-shooter right-wing winger will stay in Las Vegas for the 2025 trade deadline. Between the two clubs last season, he had 40 points in 79 games, 13 goals and 27 assists, scoring three goals and one assist for Las Vegas in the second round, and they lost in the second round.
Smith, 34, was one of the initial “inappropriate” of the Golden Knights’ inaugural 2017-18 season, where the Florida Panthers traded in the 2017 NHL expansion draft. He played there for six seasons when the Stanley Cup rose in 2022-23. Most notably, he scored a Cup goal in Game 5 against the Panthers.
His previous contract was a three-year contract he signed with the Golden Knights in 2022, paying $5 million a year. He played for only one season in Las Vegas before being sent to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Smith is a proven producer
The Dallas Stars’ 69th 2009 draft pick played 912 games between the Stars, the Boston Bruins, Panthers, Penguins, Rangers and Golden Knights, scoring 553 points on 226 goals and 327 assists. Being a good traveler, not uprooting his life anymore and being with a team that will remain competitive next season may be one of the factors that he decided to re-sign.
By retaining Smith, the Golden Knights have locked in a solid point producer who has eight over 40 points on his resume and should give them the boost as they compete in the Pacific Division for the first time again. He scored a career-high 60 points (22 goals, 38 assists) with Las Vegas in the 2017-18 season and scored a career-high 27 goals in his 2019-20 years.
