Arsenal held talks with Saliba on a new contract to stop Real Madrid, and while some media even claimed that the extension was almost agreed (football transfer), it seems widespread at the moment.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Saliba is still a “dream” signing, and they remain alert to the 24-year-old contract situation regardless of their Huijsen deal.

“So Real Madrid’s position on Saliba is clear – they will now sign Dean Huijsen, but Saliba is still their dream goal. Arsenal will hold the closure agreement in court, keep Saliba at the club and extend the contract. Otherwise, if this contract is not extended, then Real Madrid will exist.”
