La Liga heavyweight Real Madrid is said to be targeting another Arsenal star because of their strong connection to William Saliba, which is negative with a new contract dialogue with the former.
Real Madrid still pays attention to William Saliba despite signing Dean Huijsen
Some Gunners may be optimistic at one stage, with Real Madrid signing Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen ending their interest in Saliba, but that’s far from true.

The Gunners appear to be competing with Hansi Flick’s title for a “exciting” player.
France International has been at the heart of Mikel Arteta’s defense since 2022/2023, with a tenacious partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes that will make the emirate nothing in 2027.

Arsenal held talks with Saliba on a new contract to stop Real Madrid, and while some media even claimed that the extension was almost agreed (football transfer), it seems widespread at the moment.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Saliba is still a “dream” signing, and they remain alert to the 24-year-old contract situation regardless of their Huijsen deal.
Romano said on his YouTube channel: “The goal of dreams has always been William Saliba.”
“My message is that Real Madrid learned in early May that Saliba is not targeted this summer because he is a key player for Arsenal and they are discussing a new contract with William Saliba.
“So Real Madrid’s position on Saliba is clear – they will now sign Dean Huijsen, but Saliba is still their dream goal. Arsenal will hold the closure agreement in court, keep Saliba at the club and extend the contract. Otherwise, if this contract is not extended, then Real Madrid will exist.”
Arsenal contract talk becomes sour
Of more information about Arteta news, it is now believed that Real is also very focused on breakout star Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Hale End Academy graduates have put their left-back hit percentage this season to make some really good performances, which also led to Thomas Tuchel’s nod to England.
As a result, the 18-year-old’s performance is turning in the Bernabeu, and journalist Jonathan Wilson told The Guardian’s “Football Weekly” that Arsenal has launched a sour taste over negotiations for an extension of Lewis-Skelly’s contract.
“They have to figure out the contract of Myles Lewis-Skelly, which expires next summer, and I don’t think the conversation went well from what I’ve heard,” Wilson said.
“Real Madrid is sniffing there. Imagine Real Madrid wanting a free Premier League defender. Almost unimaginable, isn’t it?”
Losing the teenage sensation in La Liga, especially in the free case, would be a real terrible situation for Arsenal, and it was really surprising that, given a Trent Alexander-Arnold-style deal, bringing one of England’s smartest young defense at no transfer fee.
Now, Lewis-Skelly on Andrea Berta’s to-do list will be higher, especially given Xabi Alonso’s new interests.
