Who can replace Casemiro in Man Utd? Amorim’s 10 summer goals

Manchester United could soon replace its biggest revenue Casemiro.

The midfielder, who runs for over £18 million per season, has been withdrawing from Old Trafford for the past 12 months.

He is still a Red Devil player at the moment, but Ruben Amorim, Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos appear to be studying youth and planning for the future, and Casemiro’s days at Man Utd may be numbered.

8 goalkeepers can replace Andre Onana of UTD

Manchester United can follow the new Guardian in the next transfer window…

Manchester United’s monotonous and meaningless draw against Manchester City still sneaked into Manchester United’s poor performance over the weekend, and the refresh of Manchester United’s midfield must be around the corner.

With that in mind, we have already considered 10 midfielders, and UTD can aim to replace Casemiro.

1

Ederson

Atlanta

Atlanta midfielder Ederson

The close connection to the move to Old Trafford has been Ederson of Atlanta for the past six months.

Manchester United reportedly negotiated internally on the Brazilian’s move, which was labeled “a careful midfielder for the central midfielder.” The Red Devils aren’t the only club they are keen on, though, so quick action may be needed.

2

Frenki de Zheng

Barcelona

Barcelona midfielder Frankie de Zhong

Manchester United have been linked to Frenkie de Jong’s move for years, but the year when the Dutch finally moved to Manchester in 2025?

Last summer, De Jong was considered a long-term upgrade for Casemiro. He continues to impress the Catalan giants, so if Man Utd returns, it won’t be shocking.

3

Aurelien Tchouameni

real Madrid

Aurelien-Tchouameni-Real-Madrid

An ambitious target is Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni, although his name has been dubbed the Man UTD target in the media in 2025.

Tchouameni is known as “one of the best defensive midfielders on Earth”, and if United were to bring the Frenchman to Manchester, it would certainly cost as much, and even more, as Casemiro would, but if at 25, if a move works, they should get more from him.

Eintracht Frankfurt

Hugo Larson Frankfurt

Reports earlier this year indicated that Manchester United were preparing to sign Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson this summer.

Larsson, worth about £50 million, is between the age of 20, but has made great progress in Germany since joining Frankfurt in 2023. Larsson is also an all-Swedish international, with a value of €35 million (£2980), a career-high (£29.8 million) by Transfermarkt – a figure that may only increase in the next few years.

5

Morten Hjulmand

Sports CP

Denmark International Morten Homand

Morten Hjulmand was signed as his replacement in midfield when Manuel Ugarte moved from Sporting CP to PSG and has been starring in Portugal since.

As a result, Amorim knows Denmark International well and reportedly signed Hjulmand at pole position at the end of 2024, so he could be another target.

6

Adam Walton

Crystal Palace

Adam-Wharton-Palace

Currently, one of the smartest British midfielders is Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace.

The Wharton is 21 years old, a regular Premier League player for the Hawks and an all-British international team participating in major championships. Ineos appears to be a young star in Old Trafford, and recently rumored that Wharton’s Man Utd cost more than £60m.

7

Joao Gomes

Wolf

Another Premier League option for Man UTD to replace Casemiro could lead them to Wolf midfielder Joao Gomes.

Brazilians have been a regular visitor to Molineux in recent years, and Ugarte reportedly wanted in Old Trafford before it arrived. United are still keen on Gomez, so if they go, we might see the two accompanying each other with the Red Devils.

8

Leon Goretzka

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka is a highly anticipated choice.

The Germans have won 11 major honors at the Allianz Arena, including the Champions League, and Man Utd has been linked to the move for the past six months. However, Goretzka’s huge salary of £215,000 per week could be a problem.

9

Exequiel Palacios

Bayer Leverkusen

Exequiel-Palacios-Leverkusen

Exequiel Palacios is Argentina’s World Cup champion and Bundesliga champion with Bayer Leverkusen, who may join the Red Devils at the right price.

At 26, you might say that Palacios is at his peak and still had a lot of advanced years before him. After learning about one of Xabi Alonso’s best midfielders, Man Utd might be the wise choice to revisit its 2024 interest.

10

Christian Ordonez

Velez Sarsfield

Christian-Ordonez-Velez

With the future of Ineos, they may consider replacing someone like Casemiro with a promising young man like Christian Ordonez.

He previously served as a substitute for Casemiro at Old Trafford, worth over £8 million. The 20-year-old is even called “one of the most powerful people in Argentina”, so Man Utd can make a future star in Ordonez.
