Brandt Snedeker will captain the U.S. Presidents Cup in Medinah next fall.

Chicago – This may be New York’s Ryder Cup year, but it’s less than 18 months after men’s golf takes over the second-biggest team event in the second city. Team USA named its captain: Brandt Snedeker in the event at the Medinah Country Club in September 2026.
Snedeker announced on Tuesday that his rival Geoff Ogilvy, who is also an Australian, will be in charge of the international side. Both players were in the mid-40s – Snedeker, 44, and Ogilvy, 46, and kept the attacks of modern games. Snedeker has made nine starts on the PGA Tour this season, while Ogilvy is primarily a golf course architect and tournament host.

Snedeker’s nomination may be surprised because the captain is usually awarded the main title. Snedeker also has limited experience as an assistant captain. He assisted Captain America Jim Furyk at the 2024 Presidents Cup and will play the same role on Keegan Bradley’s US Ryder Cup Team this year’s Bethpage Black. He was also a member of Team USA who lost in the 2012 Medinah Ryder Cup.
Ogilvy won the 2006 U.S. Open. Although he may return to Australia most of the time, he is very familiar with the Presidents Cup host website (Medna’s third course), which his design firm recently renovated.

The last cup in Montreal last fall was a fierce battle, with no lack of controversy. Tom Kim accuses some American players of lack of sportsmanship and cursing him during Saturday night’s game. On Sunday afternoon, the United States ended the match at 18.5-11.5.
Chicago’s roster will at least not be decided anymore. But at the same time, OGILVY’s company OCM will continue to grow. OCM focused on increasing the size of vegetables and fairways, adding bunkers to restore some of the original designs, and even slightly changed routing.
