Winnipeg Jets beat Dallas Stars 4-0 in Game 2, and even Series 1-1 – Hockey Writer – NHL News

The Winnipeg Jets beat the stars 4-0 in Game 2 at the Canadian Living Center Friday night, even with one match in the second round of the series.

Nikolaj Ehlers scored a pair of goals, while Gabriel Vilardi and Adam Lowry scored goals respectively. Connor Hellebuyck won 21 saves for his fourth professional playoff suspension, the first since 2021.

Game review

The Jets got a strong start, scoring 3:35 in the power game. Vilardi poked the first playoff game with a rebound as Tyler Seguin served as Miss Double for Senior Josh Morrissey.

Then, after the Jets killed Morrisey’s tripping minor, Ellers doubled the lead in the accidental bounce of 7:07 as he tried to tilt Mark Scheifele to Esa Lindell’s skateboard and by Jake Oettinger’s leap.

When Lowry shot Dylan Demelo Point in the second second, the Jets extended the lead to 3-0 and bounced the end plate and placed the puck top rack in the second inning.

It was a goalkeeper’s show, with Hellebuyck and Oettinger defeating all Comers in the second and third innings.

The Jets won the score at 16:20 when Ehlers took an empty Nets from his own goal line.

The star’s power play was late, but couldn’t beat Hellebuyck to ruin his closing bid.

Comments and observations

Morrissey returned to the Jets’ blue line after a injury loss early in Game 7 against St. Louis Blues. Luke Schenn was a healthy scratch for the first time in the playoffs.

With 7:50 left in the third quarter, Stars were behind 3-0 and he won an additional attacker in the four-on-four-square match as offsetting the rough minor. During the game, they put him back and then the game went back to five.

Mikko Rantanen got a hat-trick in back-to-back matches (in Game 7 of the first round series against Colorado Avalanche, in Game 1 against Jets) in 21:42 ICE TIME.
