Xander Schauffele puts new Callaway Elyte woods in the bag for 2025 opener

Last year, only one golfer came close to competing with the imperious Scottie Scheffler.

At one point, this man—Xander Schauffele—even surpassed the No. 1 player in the world.

Because although Scheffler won 9 championships in 2024, only one of them was a Grand Slam championship.

Schauffele, by contrast, won both the PGA Championship and the Open.

It would have been easy for the California native to keep things as they were after the best season of his career.

In a First Impressions video produced with Callaway, Schauffele discussed what he likes about the new driver with Johnny Wonder.

“It looks good,” he said. “The look is sleek and clean. The crown has changed – it's all black now.

“It sounded good,” he said after the hit. “The sound is really important to me.”

So what is it about these new Elyte drivers that has Callaway so excited?

First, they invested large sums of money. In fact, they spent millions of dollars on 3D printing to produce their most advanced artificial intelligence face.

Elyte, Elyte X, Elyte Max Fast and Elyte Triple Diamond are the four models.

The Elyte's single weight is 13 grams and has slots for setting neutral, draw or fade.

The Elyte X also weighs 13 grams and comes in neutral and draw options, but the main difference is that it's highly forgiving and has high trajectory.

The Elyte Max Fast has an adjustable hosel but is lighter than the Elyte X, helping golfers with intermediate swings.

The Elyte Triple Diamond has a smaller 450cc head for lower spin and launch. It's for the better golfer looking for a neutral fade shape.

Schauffele will play in the Triple Diamond at Plantation Course in Kapalua.

Callaway has more wins on Tour than any other manufacturer over the past six years, so this could be seen as a gamble, but Callaway's Zack Oakley sees it differently. , who believes Callaway is doing what Schauffele did, becoming one of the best in the world but striving to be better.

So, the past six years have been big years for Callaway, and 2024 will be a big year for Schauffele.

But both men believe 2025 will be better.
