Arsenal’s top priority this summer is clear: signing the striker.
On Saturday morning, Fabrizio Romano reported that the gunman was approaching signing Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, expected to trigger his £51 million release clause.
But that may just be the start of Mikel Arteta’s summer spending, which is only once, despite accumulating a 5.11 XG figure on both legs after Arsenal dropped the Champions League by Arsenal in Wednesday’s semi-final.
So, can they get a “huge talent” because Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is probably just the best forward?
Arsenal’s interest in new strikers
As reported earlier this week, Arsenal is believed to have raised the possibility of a summer move for Ipswich Town forward Liam Delap.
After the relegation of the tractor boy, Jacob Steinberg, Guardian’s Nick Ames and Jamie Jackson reported that Delap now has a £30 million issue clause that represents bargaining terms, given that football talent’s Jacek Kulig of Football Talent considers him “a huge talent”.
As a result, Arsenal is certainly not the only club to be interested, with football insider Wayne Veysey noting that Nottingham, Manchester United and Chelsea are also proposing to the striker, while Danny Rust and Danny Rust and Dean Jones said Tottenham also said Tottenham signed him.
However, in a third straight top two, and a very need for a new center forward, Arsenal is probably the most attractive claim to make Drapp’s so he can be the forward they’ve been looking for.
Why Delap can imitate Aubameyang
Aubameyang joined Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund for £55m in January 2018, and to this day, the club has the fourth highest fee ever, behind Kai Havevertz, Nicolas Pépé and Declan Rice.
Gabon International certainly had an immediate impact in north London, with a total of 163 appearances in just 37 minutes of his debut against Everton, and he was there as far as the great team of modern Arsenal.

Aubameyang’s best moment was in the 2020 FA Cup, scoring twice to beat Manchester City in the semi-finals, then another goal against Chelsea in the 2-1 victory final and secured the club’s closest major silverware.
After the final, Aubameyang was awarded a new three-year contract, but by December 6, 2021, he had played his last game for the club and saw the contract terminated to enable him to join Barcelona as a free agent as his high-profile view with Arteta.
So, can Delap be a replacement for Aubameyang for three and a half years?
Well, let’s compare Delap’s exploitation of Ipswich this season with Aubameyang’s best campaign at Arsenal.

As stated in the table, especially for certain indicators, Delap and Aubameyang are very similar.
Both scored over 90% of the goals in the box, and the numbers also highlighted that both are low-receive, high-shooters, and don’t hit the ball frequently, but both have more than two shots in each game, which is especially impressive for Delap, considering the bad situation of Ipswich this season.
The British actually performed well in terms of target %, goals and shooting moves, while the former Arsenal actually missed the big opportunity defined by 23 Opta, the most players in the division in 2018/19.
Transfer focus
Giant money deals, controversial moves and big-name slippers. This is the hometown of football fans’ transfer news and opinions.
So on the stronger side, everything shows that Delap may be the deadly ender for Arsenal to desperately take them to the next level.
