Today, I will provide you with a preview of my 2025 Masters Championship at the legendary Augusta National Golf Club. Now, anyone who knows me knows how much I love Augusta. I’ve only missed two Masters Championships since 2010, and it’s one of the great benefits of being a PGA professional.
There is no doubt that Augusta National is my favorite venue and the Masters is my favorite event of the year. History, courses and traditions make it the pinnacle of golf. In 2025, we will be participating in another memorable competition.
Basics: 2025 Masters Details
- date: April 10-13, 2025
- Place: Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta, GA
- Defending champion: Scottie Scheffler
The best players in the world will compete for the most coveted award in golf: the green jacket. Scottie Scheffler became the defending champion after winning his second Masters title in 2024. He went to the hot spot with the world No. 1, while odds makers made him a favorite at the moment.
But history will not stand by his side. No one has won back-to-back Masters since Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2002. If Scheffler finishes the game, he will get it in Truly Elite Company.
Storyline viewing
Rory McIlroy is back in Augusta with one goal in mind: finishing a professional grand slam. The Masters is a major lack of his resume, and he looks sharp after the player champions have won a huge victory this season.
But Augusta wasn’t always kind to Rory. He finished second in 2022, but also missed the layoffs in two of his last four Masters. If he can handle the stress and get into controversy on Sunday, it could end up being his year.
Ludvig Åberg, who was second in Augusta last year, will seek to build on this momentum. The young Swedes quickly became one of the best batsmen on the tour, Augusta rewarding precision. He is definitely a name to pay attention to.
- Xander Schauffele For years, I’ve been knocking on the door at the Grand Slam. Could this be the one he finally broke through?
- Jon RahmFormer Master Champion, knowing to win here.
- Collin Morikawa Has a game been built for Augusta, but can he put four rounds of stable rounds together?
LIV Golfers – Don’t count them
One of the big problems will be the performance of LIV players. Although they don’t have as much exposure on the LIV Tour, don’t be surprised if they take the championship seriously. Sergio Garcia and Joaquin Niemann Very good condition, and Bryson Devanmo His aggressive style has become a fan favorite. After his T6 ended last year, you know he will be looking to improve that performance.
Course Conditions and the Challenge of Augusta Nationals
Weather is always a factor in the owner. Wind has played a huge role in the past few years, and early forecasts suggest that we can see similar conditions in 2025. If the wind gets up, it will even test the best players, especially in Augusta’s toughest hole, such as the third 12 at Amen Corner.
And there are several iconic holes worth watching.
- Hole 12 (Golden Bell) – Perhaps the most famous third in golf, this hole makes many of the best in the world.
- Hole 16 (red) – One of my favorite vulnerabilities to watch, especially when Sunday’s dowel placement brings a dramatic all-in-one opportunity.
- Amen corner (Hole 11-13) – This hole is where you can win or lose the master. If a player survives here, they will have a chance to attack the latter nine.
Augusta’s eternal tradition
One of the best things about the owner is its long history and tradition. If you attend this year (the application process is closed and all tickets are allocated), or watch at home, take a moment to appreciate what makes Augusta so special:
- Champion Dinner – A party of past winners hosted by the defending champion. What will Scottie serve this year?
- The third stroke – Fan favorite event Wednesday. Winning the game can be a bad sign (no third-shot wins the Masters), but it’s still a great watch.
- Green jacket ceremony – Nothing like seeing the champion slip on the green coat of Butler’s cabin.
If you are going to Augusta (and you are not eligible for the Master yourself), I highly recommend checking it out Bobby Jones’ Audience Guide On the Masters website. This is an incredible resource to help you browse reasons and make the most of your experience.
Who will win the 2025 Master? So, will Scottie make history? Can Rory finally finish the professional grand slam? Will we see a surprise winner appear from the field? This is the result of this year.
To be sure: the 2025 Masters promises to be another memorable chapter in golf history. I can’t wait to see how this all unfolds and I’ll watch every shot. Who is your choice? Let me know what you think in the comments below and make sure to follow more updates from GolfSpan!
See you in Augusta!
