

Travis Pointe CC to invest $6 million to upgrade
Travis Pointe, a private club near Ann Arbor, is undergoing a massive upgrade to the club and golf course.
A few years ago, I was able to play and comment before the LPGA Wolvik Championship.
You can read my thoughts on Travis Pointe, one of the few private lessons on my Michigan golf course review list.


The original architect of Travis Pointe was Bill Newcomb, who is my favorite Michigan courses including Calderone and Grande. The restoration will be supervised by Chris Wilczynski of the nearby saltwater golf building. Wilczynski is a member of Travis Pointe.
Work at the clubhouse began this fall. Golf course work began in 2026.
I wish I had the chance to play it again after I was done with the job.

Modern club with exquisite talent
The revitalized clubhouse at Travis Pointe will have a completely fresh aesthetic and open design that displays new architectural features while turning the restaurant and bar area into a vibrant centralized social gathering space. The clever reimagining of the barbecue room and bar space creates a sophisticated and tempting atmosphere in a centralized hub that is perfect for socializing, special events and backcourt celebrations.
Comus Consulting and Alan Group have been selected as enhancements to the Leader Club Club, which will be held from this year through spring 2026, including a modern, elegant sense of arrival, its redesigned Porte-Cochere and an engaging front entrance. The exterior will feature glossy brickwork for a stylish, modern look.
With the expansion of covered outdoor dining areas and open-air places, the space can be used with obvious spaces, which will allow for an open-air dining experience as well as new ways for members to enjoy clubhouse facilities.
Some of the most eye-catching design enhancements on the Travis Pointe Clubhouse effortlessly bring visual appeal with improved features and space use, such as renovated restaurants that have a large staircase on the rear terrace to improve access and provide a certain WOW factor. The refreshed and optimized banquet and event space is designed to make large group gatherings sophisticated, memorable, and operationally.
Ravis Pointe is home to the thriving tennis, junior high school golf and youth swimming programs. The addition of a fifth outdoor tennis court will meet growing demand and make the club an ideal place for more USTA-approved events.

The next generation of experts at the beloved golf course
Travis Pointe members are pleased that the renovation includes enhanced features of the golf course designed to improve long-term course conditions, more pleasing sight and vision, cross-brows, playability across all skill levels and sustainable maintenance practices enjoyed in the renowned 72-72-72-sec yards, 18-hole Newcomb Newcomb.
Experienced golf course architect and Travis Pointe member Chris Wilczynski, CW Golf Architecture, an outstanding design creator of Esplanade held at Azario Lakewood Ranch, located at Lakewood Ranch MI, will oversee Travis Pointe’s golf course renovation. Notably, Wilczynski also led a comprehensive restoration and enhancement of the original Langford & Moreau course at Blythefield Country Club in Belmont, Michigan in preparation for the 2021 Meijer LPGA Classic.
Wilczynski will implement a plan to improve and improve the strategic location of the course bunker for better shooting value and aesthetics, and will also revitalize the fairways and Greenside Bunkers of the course through the advanced Borting Billy Bunker Lining System. The plan also calls for the expansion of the green and the re-tuning of the fairway to enhance playability and overall appearance.
Behind the scenes, an improved drainage system will be installed. The spacious tree project will continue and a plan to adjust the mowing pattern will be developed to develop optimal conditions throughout the year.
The club building will begin in fall 2025 and the golf course renovation will begin in 2026. BobbyJones Links will continue to oversee the management of member-owned clubs through the construction phase and beyond.
Overall, these enhancements will make Travis Pointe Country Club one of the most attractive members in the area, with top amenities for all ages.
